The Nomad’s Guide to Salida, Colorado

colorado-vanlife-blog-adventure-19.jpg

at the base of the sawatch mountain range & monarch pass lies salida, colorado. i actually visited this city when i was in high school & it’s crazy to think now it’s one of the many spots i can call home. not too far from buena vista, salida is a great spot to stop & stay in.

water & groceries

one of the first things i look for when we are staying in a new city is where we can refill on water. i haven’t been able to find a local salida water refill station, so we refill our water at natural grocers. they have a big basin where you can fill up your water containers. 25 cents per gallon. also, while you’re here—do some grocery shopping! natural grocers is one of our favorite places to shop. started in colorado, natural grocers’s mission is to make healthy, organic food available to all at affordable prices. i’m all about that!

recycling

the recycling center in salida is in a spot that’s not the easiest to find. it is behind the salida hot springs aquatic center. the address will take you to the aquatic center—the recycling center is behind the building.

  • moonlight pizza & brewpub // as a full time vanlyfer, pizza is definitely the food i miss the most. we have been able to pretty much transfer everything we would cook in our house into vanlyf, except for pizza. plus they have vegan cheese & they brew their own beer.
